How to Restore Encryption Files on Android
Question
I have encrypted the SD Card in the Samsung Android Gadget. After experiencing an error, the HP often restarts continuously, then Wipe does it, after that the SD Card that was unable to display the Picture or other documents, even though the file capacity to the SD Card is still there. Please help with the temperature, how to recover the files on the SD Card? Where to go? And is it really irreversible? Because data are very important. (Kahuna Ramadhani)
Answer:
The idea of SD card encryption is indeed for data security. Smartphone lost or stolen, usually the smartphone itself is protected by the use of passwords or biometric keys, without this, the data in our internal storage is relatively safe not to be seen or used by thieves. But the data on the SD card can be easily read through other devices, for example a card reader or another smartphone. For this reason, for the sake of overall data security, there is a feature for SD card encryption, so that when an SD card is trying to be read on another device, it will not be read.
The problem is there are 2 keys in this SD card encryption, one hardware key, in the form of device data used when encryption (smartphone or tablet), and one password key (or pattern or pin) to unlock the smartphone.
These two keys are not synchronized to the cloud or anywhere for security purposes, and are stored in the device's RAM (Random Access Memory). So when the device is wiped, or hard reset, the data in RAM is deleted, including the key for decrypting the SD card.
When we first encrypt the SD card, the information is given in advance, if the SD card will not be read on other devices after it is encrypted, or on the same device if it is factory reset.
Users are advised to decrypt the SD card first before doing a wipe or factory reset. Because of this high level of encryption, it looks like you have to give up data on the SD card, but the SD card can still be used by reformatting, which usually requires the help of other applications such as partition manager.
